Palm Cove Is the most beautiful tropical hideaways that exists anywhere in north Queensland. It is a beachside town that lays claim to having some of the most attractive seafront resorts that exist anywhere in Australia.Cairns and Port Douglas border Palm Cove to the north and to the south and this whole tropical region is one of Australia's most popular winter holiday playgrounds. It is not just popular with Australian and has now been well and truly discovered by international visitors as well. The beach at Palm Cove is superb and there are a dozen or so resorts that have beach frontage here. As most have been built in the last decade, the standard is very high. You can get to Palm Cove by flying into the international airport in Cairns and then using a shuttle service. it is only about 15 minutes drive. Many visitors like to hire a car for their stay so they can explore this beautiful region at their leisure and drive themselves to places like the Daintree Rainforest, Mossman, Cape Tribulation or the Atherton Tablelands to visit the many interesting attractions and engage in some exciting holiday activities. view of a resorts pool The most exciting of these activities is , of course, to visit the Great Barrier Reef which lies a short distance offshore from Palm Cove. Tour vessels actually call in to the jetty at Palm Cove so you don't have to go to Cairns or Port Douglas to join a tour. Diving and snorkeling, including dive instruction is available and inexperienced divers can even have the same experience as a diver by donning a hard hat and be lowered into the reef waters on a hydraulic platform. This experience is now available with several operators. Extended dive trips to more remote reef locations are also available for qualified divers.

North Queensland is scenically spectacular and the immediate environment around Palm Cove is home to interesting activities like the Tjapukai Aboriginal display where you can come to understand something about their lifestyle and culture and next door, you can ride the skyrail to Kuranda on the Atherton Tablelands for the day.
